STUDIO programme
MoDem is th language that Roberto Zappalà and his company developed in over 20 years of activity.
Roberto Zappalà feels the need to dedicate increasingly more time to the detailed craft that his dance requires, maintaining those principles on the use of the body and the construction of his dance that focus increasingly on the physicality. Bodies as still the principal motor of his creativity: their power, dynamics, musicality enter an ever closer relationship with society. The idea that everyday life can act as a stimulus for a more authentic and honest movement is one of the recurrent objectives of our training programme, and more generally, of our way to disseminate our vocabulary.
At times monastic in nature, the course seeks to achieve the necessary body awareness that will subsequently turn into movement and dynamics.
The different modules will cover the fundamentals of his dance: perception, awareness, surprise, unpredictability, honesty but also running, breathing, centre, periphery, instability, continuous drop, voice, disarticulation, dynamics.
Special focus will given to the repetition of the work cycles so to assimilate those operative mechanisms that lead to the sequences, primary research elements in dynamics.
In the two months of work, the aim is to transmit with the utmost consistency and care, most of the repertory and vocabulary that has been created in the past 24 years, and during the course one creation will be realized, together with the dancers of the company or the same choreographer Roberto Zappalà.
the MoDem ADvanced programme, with a duration of 8 months , is addressed to those dancers almost ready for professionism or coming from the STUDIO programme, who will be considered ready to develop the MoDem language. the complete programme is of 2 years (not compulsory)
the STUDIO pogramme, with a duration of 8 monts, is addressed to those dancers over 18 coming from other experiences who want to deepen contemporary techniques and approach to MoDem language. the progamme has a duration of 2 years (not compulsory)
Programme:
Both MoDem and STUDIO, have in program three daily classes: ballet, contemporary and one workshop. The classes will be held daily from Monday to Friday, starting 9.00. The timetable will be fixed every month and it could change. Some workshops could be exceptionally held in the weekends.
The attendance to all the classes is compulsory and it will be considered for the final evaluation of the dancers.
The ballet classes are focused on the contemporary dancer's needs. Bodily awareness, use of the contemporary dynamics and increase of concentration and memorization
The classes of MoDem technique are based on the technique that compagnia zappalà danza has developed over the years.
Other classes of contemporary technique are given by highly qualified teachers
The czd repertoire develops those codes which characterize the carrier keystone of Roberto Zappalà's language
The workshops give the possibility to develop various creative methods, choreographic composition and improvisation, contact-improvisation and other..
seeds focuses on the research work developed by the participants themselves, who have the opportunity to express their choreographic skills through short creations of their own; an opportunity for participants to both express their creative skills by showing new choreographic ideas and learn how to be “on the other side”, a necessary step to better understand the relationship with the choreographer.

Period of work and holidays
MoDem PRO will start 16 September 2013 and will end on 17 November 2013. The programmed holidays: National holidays
AD course and STUDIO will start 30 September 2013 and will end on 25 May 2014. It will have two set holiday breaks, from 21 December 2013 to 6 January 2014 (included) and from 18 April to 27 April 2014 (included), plus National holidays.
Accommodation
the management is available to provide a list of budget accommodation, with prices ranging from 150 to 300 euro per person per month. Please note that the management will not be held responsible for any problems that might arise in relation to accommodation.
MoDem amateurs: in the idea of Roberto Zappalà the relation between the audience and the company is not only linked to the performance's sight and in this section it will be seriously considered. In this phase the base of the work will be the concepts which bring to the construction of the company's performances. No weight will be given to the participants' technique, but to the reaction that their bodies will have with the treated topics or with the suggestions gradually assimilated.

MoDem a domicilio: the project structure focuses on the idea that it is me to move towards those structures, places, spaces, cities, which are interested in my creative language and work with young dancers selected through auditions, workshops or belonging to some in loco educational projects.
